Dedication to my Father

On February 2, 2005, Lolo’s father, Luther Milliner, Sr. passed away due to complications from Type II diabetes. After his diagnosis in the late 90’s, Lolo witnessed her father, once a strong gentleman, slowly and painfully decline as the disease took its toll.  She vividly remembers him suffering from kidney failure and blindness, conditions that are largely preventable, manageable and treatable with proper care and education. She believes that no one should endure the pain her father experienced and that everyone deserves access to accurate information and preventive care.

This passion inspired her to establish the non-profit organization, Healthy Encores Caribbean (HEC) Inc., and create the an annual Health Awareness Day and Wellness Walk for Diabetes. Through these efforts, Lolo continues to educate, empower and encourage communities to understand the serious complications of Type II diabetes and the life-saving importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle.
